James Samstad is a lecturer in the Political Science department since 2006, who focuses on comparative politics, Latin American politics, economic development, and international relations. He has a Ph.D. and B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and an A.M. from Stanford University. Among the universities he has taught are UCSD, Brown University, UC Irvine, and the Colegio de la Frontera Norte in Tijuana. He has also published in a number of journals including World Development and Latin American Politics and Society.
